What is pea pods?

Pea pods is a learning support website, not to be confused with an E- Learning website. Pea pods does not work as a stand alone learning website. The site has been developed to support the face to face learning opportunities and annual learning programme provided by Exeter CVS for the voluntary and community sector in and around Exeter.

Pea pods provides additional supportive learning materials and resources which can be accessed by those who have attended a course. The materials and resources are additional and complimentary to those provided in the sessions.

As new courses are included on the Annual Learning Programme so new materials and resources will be developed for the Pea Pods website.

Why pea pods?

The idea for pea pods came from the premise that within every pod are a number of peas. We used this idea to create individual learning pods which are both independent of each other and yet can be interdependent, in order to maximise an individuals learning experience.

Pods represent an overall title, theme or issue on the Exeter CVS learning programme. The peas contain handouts, information sheets, quizzes, helpful links to other websites and other activities which combine to enhance and extend the knowledge and information gained on the course.

In short a POD is the ‘container’ for a whole selection of PEAS on a specific issue, theme or topic.

Are pea pods just for learners?

As well as providing information and materials for learners who have attended an Exeter CVS course, the site also provides a service for Exeter CVS course tutors. By accessing the Course Tutors Forum those who deliver courses can communicate with other course tutors about their experiences, issues which have arisen while delivering courses, seek advice, guidance, ideas, suggestions about how to manage specific situations or issues which may have arisen and generally receive and provide support for one another.
